Anna Wilds, an Augusta-based franchise adviser with FranChoice, said failure to follow a company’s time-proven system is the the primary reason people fail at a franchises. A veteran’s ability to “stick to the plan” is why so many franchise companies aggressively court veterans, some even offering some discounts on franchise fees that can add up to thousands of dollars.

“There is a full-force effort to recruit people with a military background,” said Wilds, an Air Force veteran. “Augusta is poised to have a disproportionate number of veteran-owned franchises. I could, without hesitancy, place 100 of them today. There’s that much opportunity."
